Work on "Touch ups"

Finalize all of the "EXTRA" elements of your production

1. Place your CG or Cool 3D graphics in Adobe Premiere and export them to a common folder
2. Organize all of your graphics (They need to be easy to locate and play)
3. Finalize your camera directions in your script.........Make sure you cue and cut graphics and note camera changes
4. Make sure you have a graphic as you go to and return from commercial break
5. Ending graphics and credits
6. Make a costume inventory

Period 5--DON'T RECORD ON BRIT'S TAPE.........YOU USED IT FOR PRODUCTION.

Group Project 11/29- 12/17

You will be assigned to a group

Your group will produce an original game show or talk show

Due Dates:
11/29- General scripts and paragraphs are due
Turn in a typed position list utilizing all students in the class (list names and positions)

11/30-List of props and costumes

12/4- Graphics must be exported to a specified folder and ready to use (These graphics will include an introduction and a conclusion for your show. Also, you should create your scrolling credits)

12/6- Final typed script is due.........Make sure all directions and information is on this script. It must be specific!!

12/7- 12/10- Group 1 Studio practice
12/11- 12/12- Group 2 Studio practice

12/12- Commercials must be completed and exported to a specified folder

12/13- Group 1 films final project in studio
12/14- Group 2 films final project in studio

12/17- Project viewing day (Bring popcorn)

-Talk to 3 people with unique pets.
~be able to tell how long they have that pet, why they have that pet, etc.
-Find 3 people who have met or had an experience with famous people.
-Find someone who has an educational military experience that they can share or ask a math teacher what their favorite aspect of math.
-Go up to 3 people you have never met and learn about their study habits. Different ones.
-Find out what the best place in the high school is to hang out.
-Find where the best place in Berwick to hang out is.
-Find someone with a fascinating college story to inspire others to go to college from a teacher or dual enrollment high school student
-Ask one of our administrators and find out what their favorite meal in our cafeteria is.

3. You will complete your own project after watching the tutorial. Your project must start out with a title and end in a black video

2. Be sure your project is exported into your folder AND in a folder called Photo Timing
--Please note that if your video doesn't play on the grading day, you have exported in PAL....please redo.

Star Titles, Stop and Glow and You

10/16- 10/26

Students will complete a 1-2:30 min assignment

GOAL: Students will create a video project using their new skills acquired from the tutorials

1. Students will create a project with 5 chapters
2. Each chapter will indicate an section of their lives
3. Each section will be introduced with a title and paragraph utilizing "Star Titles" skills
4. Each section will include a "Stop and Glow" featuring the skill / object that is featured in that specific section

5. The videos must be clean, still, use 1 type transition, fade in and out, include your name, be exported to a folder entitled "Star Titles, Stop and Glow and _____(name).

Filming must be completed by Tuesday, 10/23
Editing must be completed by Thursday, 10/25
We will view your projects on Friday, 10/26
**you will not be allowed to export on Friday. Points will be deducted from your project if it is not completed on Friday....NO EXCUSES!!

Tutorials

10/8 - 10/12

Students will complete two video editing tutorials.
Star Titles
Stop and Glow

1. Students will go over the steps for both tutorials with the teacher
2. Students will watch and review the tutorials on their computers
3. Students will take notes on each tutorial
4. After each tutorial, students will complete an original project only using the instructions from their notes
5. All projects will be saved in assigned folders
--Folders should be created in personal files in the tvstudio / journalism 2
--one folder should be entitled "Stop and Glow"
--The other folder should be entitled "Star Titles"
**Please make sure the projects are properly exported

**Students will continue to finalize their music videos.
(The deadline has been extended as a result of three days of computer failure throughout the school)

Goal: Students will create, edit and export their music video projects

1. Students will finalize their editing - Mon. - Wed.
2. Students will review their score sheets/ requirements and export on Thursday
**All videos must be exported each student's personal J2 folder.
(tv studio - shared - Journalism 2 - personal folder)
**Students should be sure to set their yellow rendering line prior to export
3. Students will view their final productions on Friday

Goal: Students will finalize importing video
Students will begin the editing process of their first full project

1. Students will report to one of the three importing stations to capture their video
2. Students will bring in music and footage to their personal PC

Music Vdieo

They say making a video is like making magic..........
............So, here's a chance to jump into a new world.

Tuesday, 9/11/07 - Friday, 9/20/07
Today we are going to begin our first real project
1. Students will review the elements of a music video
2. Each student will pick out their favorite song
3. Students will create storyboards and write a paragraph to illustrate their ideas for approval
4. Students must turn in the lyrics to the song (Remember, Mrs. C. IS listening!!)
5. Storyboards and paragraphs Must be turned in by Wednesday, 9/12 (10 pts. each)
6. All Filming MUST be planned and completed on school property

WHEN VIDEO TAPING, STUDENTS MUST ABIDE BY THE VIDEO LAWS!

7. Students will review the Music Video score sheets and discuss requirements
8. All formal scripts must be turned in by Thursday, 9/13 (20 pts.)
9. We have 6 video cameras, so students will need to sign up to video tape.
10. Students will be able to video tape between Thursday, 9/13- Wednesday, 9/19.

11. During this time, students will create a new folder for their projects (Entitled: Name Music Video) -All work must be saved in this project
12. each time you film, you will be responsible for importing your footage

13. Friday, 9/14- MUST BRING YOUR MUSIC (20 pts.)
-Students will learn to use the Sound Forge program

14. During the filming period, one video tutorial must be completed: Basic Instructions Tutorial
-Complete this while you are waiting for others to film

15. All footage must be exported by Wednesday, 9/19

Titles and Keyframes

Thursday:
Students will review the tutorials on Titles and Keyframes.
Students will take notes on the process

Friday:
Students will review the tutorials at their desks, add to their instructional notes and practice both tutorials

Monday:
Video Quiz
1. Students will log on and go to the TV studio server

2. Create a new Adobe Project : Place it in a folder called: Keyframe Quiz 1
(Make this folder in YOUR folder.)

3. Save your Save your project in this new folder

4. Use the background located in the folder entitled "Dropped Video"

5. Using your name, Create a new title

6. Make it a new color

7. Using keyframes

A. Make your title spread and grow twice it's size

B. This will occur in the middle of your project

C. Your title will remain in it's original size at the beginning and end of the video

D. Your video must pause in the middle (Use two keyframes in the center to accomplish this.

E. Your title must fade in and fade out

F. Export your completed project to your new folder and call it "Final Quiz 1"

February 12- March 20

Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 12 and Feb 13)

Photo Project: This project will utilize Cool 3D, CG Infinity and your scanned photos.

1. Today, you will be given 10 points if you brought your music to school. (The music must correspond to the theme of your photos)

2. Students will make a beginning graphic title and and ending graphic title for their project.

3. Please save them in your J2 folder in a "New Folder" called Photo Timing Project.

4. Both titles must enhance your project and correspond with your theme. One Title must be completed in Cool 3D and the other must be Completed in CG Infinity.

5. Be sure to save your projects at the end of each period. When you are Totally finished export them as a Video or animation file depending on which program your are using. Be sure they are 720 x 480 before you export.


Wednesday, 2/14 (Happy Valentine's Day!!):
1. Bring in your music through Sound Forge. Be sure to save it in your folder called Photo Timing Project

2. Watch the tutorial entitled "Timing"

3. Finish any graphics not completed on Mon. and Tues.
(Graphics will be graded today: 30 Points each)

Thursday and Tuesday (2/15 and 2/20)
1. Complete your own Timing Project. (minimal 12 photos used in project PLUS one CG Graphic and one Cool 3D Graphic)
2. Be sure your project is exported into your folder AND the folder called Photo Timing period 4 or Photo Timing Period 5. (Points will be deducted if you fail to export to both folders) --Please note that if your video doesn't play on the grading day, you have exported in PAL....please redo.

Wednesday (2/21):
Project viewing day.
(These projects will be graded. They are worth 100 points)

Thursday Through Tuesday (2/22 and 2/27):
Watch and complete the tutorial entitled: Stop and Glow
1. Complete your own project. Use video already in your folder.
2. Export to the folder entitled: Stop and Glow pd 4 or Stop and Glow pd 5
3. This project will be graded and worth 50 points

Advertising Project:
Read Chapter 12: Objectives and Strategies for Public Relations Writing.(pgs 265 -275)

Chapter Review
I. Read and discuss the chapter.
A. Each student should have a detailed answers by completing the chapter 12 packet. Students may use ebooks.

Answers should include Section Headings, Subtopics, Key terms and Definitions.
(The packet will be turned in for a 100 point grade. Each section will be checked)

Ad Reviews
II. Discuss popular advertising campaigns....tv commercials, magazine and newspaper ads, billboards and radio ads.

A. Each student must write a page about a specific ad campaign. The company must be in accordance with school policy.
1. Discuss the ad (SLOGANS, LOGOS, PURPOSE)
2. Discuss the gender and age group targeted
3. Discuss the Publics, Markets and Audiences
4. Discuss the content of the ad: What appears in the ad to promote the product? Does it work? Why or Why not?
5 Discuss colors in the ads. How do they accent/ highlight the product?
6. Discuss the placement of the ads (Where they appear, When they appear, How they appear)
7. Evaluate the marketing campaign. Discuss the pros and cons of the campaign.
8. Bring in a sample of the ad campaign: tape a commercial, cut out a magazine ad for your product or find info. on the product with visuals from the Internet.
9. Each person will present their advertisement findings to the class. The class will discuss each campaign.

The paper is worth 100 points
The visual is worth 25 points
Knowledge of product/ campaign (Presentation) - 50 points

4. Discuss Marketing Ideas (How will you get your product to the people, What type of campaign will you use, Why is your company the best one to promote this product)
-To accomplish this, you must research similar companies and products on the Internet. Study their campaigns, company policies etc.)

pick three plans that are most marketable and establish details
make brochures and fliers and radio add (first plans)

create story boards for each commercial
pick and vote on top plan

IV. Rules:
Do not produce garbage
Short fragments and sentences will not be accepted

V. Grading

The groups will be graded by the class
Each section of the project will receive a grade
All requirements must be met by the assigned deadlines
